(BPRW) The 100 Black Men of South Florida Teams up with FPL, UPS and Publix for Successful Thanksgiving Food Drive

(Black PR Wire) Year after year since 1989, the 100 Black Men of South Florida (BMSF) has been assisting thousands of hungry families throughout South Florida to celebrate Thanksgiving by providing turkeys and other essentials needed to have a traditional meal.

This past weekend at Publix Supermarket in Miami Shores, the 100 BMSF partnered with Florida Power & Light (FPL), UPS, Publix and various local volunteer groups to assemble boxes filled with stocked food products and turkeys. With everyone’s effort and hard work, over 1,600 packages were delivered to families throughout both Broward and Miami-Dade counties.

“This experience is a wonderful thing. Not only for the families who receive help, but for everyone involved in the process. It gives us a sense of satisfaction and a platform to reach out to people to continue this effort for years to come,” said Reggie Leon, operation supervisor for UPS and Board member for the 100 BMSF.

Each holiday season, the Thanksgiving Food Drive brings different groups together to embody the spirit of community and show how people can come together and give for a great cause.

“Joining this initiative was really important for us. We value the opportunity to impact lives of families in the community any way we can and partnering with the 100 BMSF was our way of lending our helping hand,” said Richard Gibbs of FPL.

Thanks to this Food Drive, many families in South Florida who did not have plans for the holidays will now have Thanksgiving meals. And it’s because of the partnerships created by the 100 Black Men of South Florida.
