Miss Black Wisconsin USA, Tekema Balentine Crowned Miss Black USA 2019
(Black PR Wire) Tekema Balentine is an activist, scholar and social justice advocate from Madison, Wisconsin. Tekema is a currently pursing a nursing degree at Madison College. Tekema is a caregiver, track and field coach and sits on the board for the P.A.T.C.H organization (Providers and Teens Communications for Health), which is an organization founded to advocate for health awareness and mental health resources for teens and adults. Tekema, who has a strong desire for civic engagement, plans to use her platform to advocate on for mental health awareness in the African-American community. During her reign, she will serve as a celebrity advocate for the Heart Truth campaign to raise awareness of heart disease and promote healthy lifestyles.
The pageant, a week-long event kicked off on the 7th of August and culminated with the crowning of Balentine on August 11th. The event was live streamed as contestants opened with an upbeat dance number wearing heels by Liliana footwear, the official shoe sponsor. Contestants were judged in Evening Gown, On Stage Interview, Talent and Personal Fitness.

About Miss Black USA
The Miss Black USA pageant is the premier pageant for women of color. The non-profit organization was founded in 1986 seeking to provide educational opportunities to outstanding young African American women and to develop the whole woman, mind, body and spirit.
