The 4th Annual Black Owned Wine and Spirits Festival is Set for September 28, 2019 at Dock 5 in Washington, DC
(Black PR Wire) Washington, DC—The 4th annual Black Owned Wine & Spirits Festival will take place in Washington, DC on September 28, 2019 at Dock 5 at Union Market; 12,000 square feet of industrial event space located in DC’s warehouse district: Ivy City. The historically sold out event features a full day of activities highlighting a plethora of minority-owned wines, spirits, beers, beverage mixers, food and other artisan goods producers. Over 50 vendors participate in the day-long, luxury-market style festival. Past participants have included Uncle Nearest Whiskey, Smokey Robinson Wines, Sankofa Beer, Harlem Brewing Co., True Vodka, Hidden Spirits and more along with the region’s top chefs and caterers.
Festival founder and owner of BOWSF-title sponsor FOU-DRE Vodka, Chanel Turner, has been a trailblazer in bringing attention to an industry traditionally lacking in diversity. The festival expertly connect minority winemakers, distillers, brewers and distributors in an educational, networking and consumer-facing environment to promote growth, commerce, and brand awareness. The goal is to ignite a movement towards widespread support on minority owned brands. The festival gives producers and owners an opportunity to educate consumers and industry influencers about their products, and gives consumers a chance to stock their bars with unique wines and spirits. The event is a coveted opportunity that continuously results in vendors selling out of their goods. The global distilled spirits industry is projected to reach $38.08 billion by 2026; the festival aims to provide educational and business opportunities that propel the growth of the minority market share in this multibillion-dollar industry.
This year, the attendee experience will be enhanced with the BOWSF mobile app that will help attendees navigate the unlimited beverage tastings, culinary selections from nationally recognized chefs, and live entertainment options. The app will increase engagement between festival participants and attendees,
and allow attendees to share experiences with each other. Also, via the BOWSF app, attendees can vote in the 2019 Black Owned Wine and Spirits awards, win prizes, and participate in surveys to help improve the minority-owned wine and spirits industry. Tickets for the festival are currently on sale on the website at BlackownedSpiritsFestival.com; interested sponsor and vendor applications can also be submitted online. The 2019 festival is slated to be the largest yet, details can be found on the website or vial social media.
