(BPRW) THE ATLANTA DJ CONSORTIUM - The Dirty South’s premiere DJs donated their time and spinning skills to support the Black Community.

(Black PR Wire) Atlanta, GA – The COVID-19 pandemic on top of the long-standing injustices against the Black community has been a struggle for all in 2020. But one proud Clark Atlanta University Alumna curated an event to lift our spirits, raise awareness, and promote social distancing all while dancing to your favorite DJs. On paper, her name is Kathryn “Kat” Londry, a matchless, high spirited soul to say the least. Most known by Super Kat or Mama Kat, she called upon some of her closest DJing friends to curate a live stream residency.

When the DJ “Quarantine Parties” became the new normal, Mama Kat saw the opportunity to give back to her community by the way of music. The ATL DJ Consortium elevated discussions of racial injustices, stigma of mental health in the Black community, and the importance of music education for underprivileged students. With music clubs closed down across the nation in March of 2020, the ATL DJ Consortium partnered with Center Stage Atlanta (who’s physical doors are still closed) to present a 2-hour dance party on Facebook Live.

Launched in celebration of June’s African-American Music Appreciation Month, each set showcased a roster of talented DJs while driving donations to support different causes. All proceeds raised during the live DJ sets were donated to the Equal Justice Initiative, the Boris L. Henson Foundation and the Atlanta Music Project.

“Music will always be my safeguard on various wavelengths, and what better way for people to come together virtually to vibe out and support great causes during this much necessary movement for equity for Black Lives and a global pandemic at the same time” - Mama Kat.

The talented roster consisted of DJ Swiff (@swiffman1), DJ Montay (@djmontay), DJ Jelly (@therealdjjelly), Mr. Collipark aka DJ Smurf (@colliparkletsgo), DJ Princess Cut (@djprincesscut) and DJ Mars (@djmars404).
