(Black PR Wire) Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC) applauds the Senate on confirming Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court in a historic vote today. Judge Jackson is the first African American woman confirmed to the highest court in the land by the U.S. Senate.
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson received a standing ovation from her supporters in the Senate with Vice President Kamala Harris, presiding over the monumental confirmation, with a 53-47 bipartisan vote.
"Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation is a historic moment for this country," said Ron Busby, Sr., President & CEO of USBC. "As a trailblazer and the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court, I am confident she will bring sound judgment and make tough decisions to advance our nation's principles of equality and justice."
The USBC is proud to have joined other organizations in supporting her nomination and confirmation. Today’s vote represents a significant step forward for diversity in the courtroom, and underscores the importance of our work to ensure diverse representation at all levels of government, corporate America and entrepreneurship.
