(Black PR Wire) On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Chairman Steven Horsford and members of the Congressional Black Caucus hosted a welcome reception on Capitol Hill to recognize and celebrate the historic state visit of His Excellency Dr. William Ruto, C.G.H., the President of the Republic of Kenya.
During the reception, Chairman Horsford, House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Rep. Gregory Meeks, reaffirmed the CBC and House Democrat’s strong commitment to strengthening U.S.-Kenya and U.S.-Africa relations. The CBC and President William Ruto also recommitted to working together on key international issues including the reauthorization of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), the mission in Haiti, and economic prosperity in Kenya, among others.
The convening marked the first official state visit from President Ruto to the United States.
