(Black PR Wire) ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- More than 130 students from across the country traveled to participate in the 2019 National Black MBA Association® Leaders of Tomorrow® Leadership Summit at Georgetown University for leadership training and academic workshops from June 26th to June 30th. During the LOT® Summit, students participated in engaging breakout sessions with motivational speakers and inspiring business leaders and entrepreneurs, along with college and corporate campus tours including a visit to Google, Howard University School of Business, and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture. The event concluded with the 18th Annual National Business Case Competition, designed to bring students together to develop solutions to everyday business challenges, with the top 12 teams competing for a total of $30,000 in scholarships.

For each year’s LOT® Case Competition, teams brainstorm solutions around a specific business topic and present their ideas to a panel of esteemed judges. This year’s challenge involved presenting tactics to expand Blue Apron’s strategies and revenue. A total of 17 LOT® Chapter case teams competed to be named amongst the top three finalists selected to compete in front of all the attendees.

During the awards ceremony, the grand prize of $15,000 was awarded to the Philadelphia LOT® Chapter, with Detroit LOT® Chapter garnering the second-place award of $10,000 and the Washington DC LOT® Chapter winning the third place $5,000 scholarship.

Today, LOT® has evolved into a comprehensive programmatic approach for providing leadership development skills to high school youth. The program is driven by a strong mentoring component and provides the opportunity for exposure to various resources and contacts that aid in academic excellence for the students.
