A free, live full-day resource event for K-12 educators, parents, and students on Nov. 7, 2020
(Black PR Wire) – Microsoft is hosting a virtual open house on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2020 in which participants will receive a diverse experience that includes keynote speaker presentations, breakout sessions and interactive workshops that address the needs of educators, students and families.
The virtual open house will offer more than 30 customized workshops, seminars, and presentations intended to help teachers, school administrators and IT professionals, parents and students navigate the unchartered landscape of remote and virtual learning. The free virtual experience is expected to attract participants from the U.S., Canada and Europe.
“We stopped and we listened. Once we heard the emotional frustrations of the parents, teachers and students due to the pandemic, we immediately identified with their overwhelming list of challenges,” said Shy Averett, Microsoft Global D & I Community Program and EDU Manager. “Even if we can’t solve everything, we knew we had to do something. We had to offer help and support…if we can make one student’s journey a little easier, one family’s day more manageable, or one teacher’s week that much better – that’s the goal.”
“We’re just trying to do our part to empower a little bit more,” Averett said.
The sessions will include Microsoft tools, effective communications, managing a classroom and creative ways to engage a classroom including:
- Educational and accessibility tools to create an inclusive classroom
- New ways for effective virtual communication
- Tips for maintaining school/work/life balance
- Guides for improving physical and mental health during remote learning
Keynote presenters include Dr. Harold Lefall, CEO, Good Living Now, Dr. Robyn Koslowitz, Education Director, Targeted Parenting Institute, Dr. J. Mori Johnson, Director, American Medical Association and Dr. Camille Johnson, Education Client Partner, FranklinCovey.
The open house will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. EST/11 a.m.-3 p.m. PST. Registration is required and can be done by visiting aka.ms/ReimagineEdu.
