(Black PR Wire) WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Howard University Hospital will participate in the 3rd Annual African American Male Wellness Initiative 5K Walk/Run at McKinley Tech High School on Saturday, Aug. 5. The health initiative is one of the most anticipated events of 2017 and has a mission to improve health and wellness in the urban community.

African American men, women, and children representing churches, fraternities, professionals and community organizations will take their health into their own hands by participating in the 3rd Annual 5K National African American Male Wellness Walk/Run.

The WALK day events will include:

Free health screenings for men begin at 7:00 am at McKinley Tech High School

5K Walk/Run begins at 9:30 am. No registration required!

Children's Pavilion: The Children's Pavilion is a designated area that is the highlight of the WALK for our youth. This area consists of a bouncy house, healthy choices demos and interactive activities that will build a positive mindset for our youth regarding health and wellness.  In addition to the Children's Pavilion, activities include vendors on the Health Pavilion, free entertainment and more.

The focus of the WALK is to bring awareness to the issue of African American men dying prematurely of preventable and manageable diseases.
