(Black PR Wire) All month long, staff and family members of Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), have volunteered to provide support and assistance to groups and organizations through their “Power to Care” program.
Celebrating its 15th year, this annual program is committed to helping communities by making them even better places to live, work and raise a family. This year’s Power to Care week includes more than 20 projects in more than 10 counties across Florida.
Some of the locations and initiatives handled this month include:
Removal of hardwood along the southern five acres of Calderon Pine Rockland to benefit the North American Butterfly Association, a not-for-profit organization working to increase public enjoyment and conservation of butterflies. FPL partnered with the non-profit to restore the area, provide a safer and cleaner space, and to ensure our beautiful landscape and the wildlife we take for granted will be here for future generations to enjoy.
Other FPL volunteers spent the day giving back to The Salvation Army's after-school program and community center in Pensacola. Over 20 volunteers helped spruce up the facility by painting various rooms within the office and community center, pressure washing outdoor areas, and replacing old sports equipment, including basketball nets, basketballs and footballs.
And in Broward County, more than 40 volunteers planted sea oats in support of the Coastal Dune Restoration Project with the South Florida Audubon Society.
