(Black PR Wire) MIAMI GARDENS, FL – Florida Memorial University will hold a dedication and unveiling ceremony of the sculpture “Sacred Woman,” Friday, March 16, 2018 at 6 p.m. in the Student Services Courtyard.
Created by renowned Bahamian artist and sculptor Antonius Roberts, the historical sculpture represents one of several beautiful dancing women, born out of the artist’s deep-seated respect for the sanctity and significance of trees and forests. The mounted sculpture will be edition number one of twelve pieces. This is a significant project for FMU and a collaborative effort between Florida Memorial University and the Consul General of the Bahamas
The beautiful “Sacred Woman” sculpture represents triumph, hope, determination and a vision to help conserve Bahamian heritage. The sculpture unveiling is dedicated in memory of Robert’s mother, Coconut Grove’s first black female immigrant Mariah Brown, and other women who shaped the community of South Florida. As a tribute to Mariah Brown, City of Miami Commissioner Ken Russell, has provided a very generous scholarship contribution for a deserving FMU female student.
