Hosted a Media Event with FL511, Florida Highway Patrol, FDOT-District Six Community Traffic Safety Team, and Miami-Dade County Bike 305

(Black PR Wire) Ahead of the busy travel period expected during Independence Day weekend and in the summer, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six, along with the Florida 511 Advanced Traveler Information System (FL511), Florida Highway Patrol, FDOT District Six Community Traffic Safety Team (CTST) and Bike 305, hosted the Summer Holiday Travel Media Event, on June 29 at the FDOT District Six SunGuide Transportation Management Center (TMC) in Miami, FL.

According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), Floridians will travel in record numbers for Independence Day. AAA forecasts more than 2.8 million Floridians will take at least one trip of 50 miles or more, between Friday, June 30 and Tuesday, July 4. With this in mind, the FDOT District Six and partner organizations provided lifesaving information to ensure safe travels this summer.

“FDOT makes safety the number one priority,” said Stacy Miller, P.E., FDOT- District Six Secretary. “With the busy roads during the summer months, FDOT encourages motorists to plan ahead, enjoy the ride, get to their destination safely, don’t drink and drive, always wear their seat belt, and avoid distractions.”

The Travel Media Event highlighted how the FDOT District Six and partner organizations work tirelessly to help with mobilization and offer travelers reliable resources to help them arrive to their destination safely during the summer months and all year long.
