(BPRW) Black Deported Veterans of America In Association With Excuse My Accent Hosts Black Out

The Untold Story of Black Deported Veterans

(Black PR Wire) The Black Deported Veterans of America (BDVA) and Excuse My Accent Productions join forces on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 to advocate and amplify the stories of Black Deported Veterans. Black Deported Veterans of America and Excuse My Accent Productions are proud to announce this collaboration to educate and bring awareness to the untold story of Black Deported Veterans.

BDVA began as a support group in January of 2022, to provide information and guidance to those exiled veterans of the United States military seeking to repatriate and gain access to all earned benefits. BDVA works with more than thirty Deported Veterans in fifteen different countries.

The deportation of United States military veterans, escalated after the passing of (IIRIRA) Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 into law. Unfortunately, the general focus has been to our Latino brethren immediately south of the US/Mexico border.

There are Deported Veterans exiled around the globe.

This presentation is focused on the Black Deported Veterans.

The total number of veterans that have been deported is unknown to the public. According to PBS SoCal, “the U.S. has deported tens of thousands military veterans. Some estimates point to at least 94,000.”

"Bring Them Home" documents the struggles of Deported Veterans like Kevin Martinez (Belize), Hector Barajas (Mexico), Armando Scott (Panama) and Mauricio Hernandez Mata (Mexico).

The event will showcase a dynamic panel discussion following the film screening to include members of BDVA and Film Producer, Robert “Rob Young” Walker.

In celebration of Black History month, the Black Deported Veterans of America and Excuse My Accent are honored to have this presentation at the historical Valencia Park/Malcolm X Library.
