(Black PR Wire) In the spirit of National Friendship Month, The Beverly Hills West (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated (BHW), held its much-anticipated Green & White Reception courtesy of Mercedes-Benz Beverly Hills in the iconic AMG Showroom. This exclusive event not only highlighted the significance of friendship and community service, but also celebrated the Chapter’s remarkable contributions to the culture and heritage of African Americans and others of African ancestry. The choice of venue, nestled in the Chapter's namesake city, added a layer of prestige and relevance to the occasion. In a touching ceremony, Beverly Hills Mayor Julian A. Gold honored BHW and President Zna Portlock Houston with a commendation, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to enriching and sustaining the cultural fabric of the community.
This glamorous event championed by Tri-Chairs Adell Walker, La-Doris McClaney and Victoria Beeks was a beacon of hope and inspiration, recognizing the achievements of young scholars. BHW proudly announced the awarding of over $100,000 in four-year college scholarships to deserving students, underscoring their dedication to educational excellence. Embodying the mission of "Friends transforming communities through service", The Green & White Reception was more than just a celebration; it was a potent fundraiser. The funds raised are set to fuel BHW’s ongoing support for college students and their comprehensive community-based programming. These initiatives span five critical areas: The Arts, International Trends and Services, Health and Human Services, National Trends and Services, and Services to Youth, reflecting BHW’s holistic approach to community empowerment and service.
As attendees glided through a gallery of sleek luxury cars in the Mercedes-Benz showroom, the evening came alive with the soulful rhythms of a live jazz band. It was a night where networking transcended into meaningful connections, all amidst a backdrop of exquisite culinary delights and refreshing libations from local Black business owners CrèmeBruleeLA, 27th Street Bakery, Dukes Wine, BlackStorm and Alesia Mayfield. More than just a gathering, this enchanting evening served as a powerful symbol of how unity, passion, and commitment are the keystones in crafting a future that is brighter, richer, and inclusive with shared purpose. The Beverly Hills West (CA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated remains committed to transforming communities, enriching lives to those who need our aid.
