(BLACK PR WIRE) – MIAMI GARDENS, FL (July 10, 2014) – On Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:00 AM, Florida Memorial University President Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis will be joined by The Florida Memorial University Board of Trustees, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Barbara J. Jordan and representatives from the U.S. Department of Education to participate in a ground breaking ceremony for a New Multi –Purpose Arena & Wellness Education Center. The Wellness Center will include a gymnasium with two National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (“NAIA”) Division II regulation basketball courts with seating for approximately 2,800 spectators.
Immediately following the groundbreaking ceremony, at a neighboring campus site, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held to open a state-of-the-art Science Annex. Penny Schaffer, Market President, Florida Blue and elected officials will join Dr. Artis to cut a ceremonial ribbon.
The new Science Annex Building is adjacent to the existing M.A. Range Science Building. The Annex Building is an 8,000 square foot, two story structure equipped with a Chemistry, Biology and General Labs.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony refreshments will be served and staff members will be available to answer questions and provide tours of the science annex.
