(BLACK PR WIRE) – Every child needs a safe place to learn, play and explore. The Church of the Open Door UCC, under the leadership and guidance of Rev. Dr. R. Joaquin Willis, and the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Academy for Early Learners are partnering to make it happen during the KaBOOM! Community Playground Build Day. The event takes place Saturday, April 6, 2013 on the church grounds, located at 6001 NW 8th Ave. in Miami, Fla. The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the ribbon cutting ceremony is at 2:30 p.m.

Sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Build Day is a community-wide volunteer effort to construct an open playground in Liberty City for the STEAM Academy in just ONE DAY!

Volunteers are greatly needed! To register as an individual or through an organization, visit www.churchoftheopendoormiami.org. Organizations with 10 or more volunteers will have the honor of having their names inscribed on the permanent Playground Dedication Plaque.
