- Film Festival to Engage Businesses and Provide a Platform for Opportunities -
(BLACK PR WIRE) ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The BronzeLens Film Festival will take place November 11-14, 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia. The festival is dedicated to bringing national and worldwide attention to Atlanta as an epicenter for film and film production for people of color. Champions of the BronzeLens Film Festival include Kathleen Bertrand, Senior Vice President, Community and Governmental Affairs, Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau. “There are so many business opportunities and career paths in film and television. Exposing the public to this vast industry and its leaders may serve as a catalyst for increased film and television production in Atlanta and the state of Georgia,” said Bertrand.
Atlanta and the state of Georgia have been extremely attractive to producers in the film and television industry. According to the Georgia Department of Economic Development Division of the State of Georgia more than 700 film and television projects have been shot in Georgia. The industry in Georgia has experienced consistent growth and figures from 2008-2009 show the following:
•Television networks, Hollywood studios, production companies and independent producers invested more than $647 million in Georgia
•The economic impact of this investment was $1.15 billion
•20 industry supply-chain companies have recently located to Georgia
Also, Georgia boasts one of the deepest and most experienced crew bases in the country, with more than 5,000 union and non-union professionals. Another 1000 production suppliers and support vendors also make their home here, from lighting and grip to film and HD camera rental houses, sound stages, post production facilities, film labs, video game development studios, sound design and recording studios, and much more. Georgia also has an extensive network of tremendously talented actors and casting agencies.
An event like the BronzeLens Film Festival can play a pivotal role for people of color in that they represent less than 5% of the production companies, independent producers, 700 film and television projects, television networks and Hollywood studios that invested more than $647 million in Georgia. Also, a disproportionate percentage of people of color benefited from the $1.15 billion economic impact, represent ownership of the 20 supply-chain companies that relocated to Georgia, are represented among the 5,000 union and non-union professionals servicing the industry, or are among the 1000 production suppliers and support vendors that make their home in Georgia. National figures reflect an even lesser percentage of representation of people of color.
Over the course of 4 days, November 11-14, 2010, festival producers will bring together film lovers, actors and filmmakers to gather in culture-and-heritage-rich Atlanta, Georgia, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis to share a creative platform of education, entertainment and empowerment discussions related to film, as well as television and the production of both. The BronzeLens Film Festival will feature screenings in multiple venues, as well as informative panels and enlightening Master Classes led by top names in film, direction and production.
