(BLACK PR WIRE) (Miramar, FL) – The Journey: A Spoken Word Experience is the newest work from writer Berwick “Underscore” Augustin, and the first of its kind from the company Island Faith Production Inc. The dramatic spoken word experience The Journey will debut in Miramar on Saturday May 23rd, 2009 from 4pm-5pm at the Miramar Branch Library located at 2050 Civic Center Place Miramar, FL 33025 and will feature various south Florida poets and performing artists. The event is free and open to the public.
This performance is designed around the tradition of orators who have inspired individuals, motivated the masses with combined stories through spoken word poetry. The experience will take the audience on personal journeys into the everyday lives of everyday people struggling to fight against a goliath. From hustling the streets to facing suicide, from abortion to fighting to live the Christian life, the cast members use drama to play the role of inspiration reenacted by the power of words.
Berwick "Underscore" Augustin was born in Port-au-Prince Haiti and raised in the Little Haiti’s section of Miami, FL. As a son of the only Haitian literary movement in Haiti, Society of Fireflies, his work is a sponge that has been soaked with a strong blend of culture and spirituality. Berwick uses spoken word poetry and theatre as a vehicle to drive empowerment, freedom, and pride and community diversity to the international community from a Haitian perspective. Augustin is the president and founder of Island Faith Productions.
